And we're off...at least in one sense. Although our flight will not leave DFW for Lima until May 28th, I believe that Krystle and I are already on mission. The bags are yet to be packed, the itinerary seems incomplete at best, and we are still in Memphis. Still, the spiritual preparation has already begun. For me, this year has been full of growth. I have become far more bold with the Gospel, and I find that it naturally flows into conversations with both acquaintances and strangers. I still have so far to go, and I know that joy will overtake duty as the Holy Spirit changes me from the inside out. Krystle has grown as well. Still struggling to find a healthy balance between faithfulness and rest, there's hope that this trip will help her to refocus on rest. We have both received so much from our recent involvement with the Christ Community house churches. This new family has become one of the main highlights of the past few months. They have also blessed our trip with prayer for a fruitful experience.
We leave for Peru on May 28th and return on July 9th- 6 weeks. The first week will be a timely rest for us, and we will spend half of it in Cuzco and the other half at a resort in Urubamba, near Machu Picchu. After that, we will spend around two weeks in Lima, the capitol city. During that time we will spend a lot of time with Krystle's family. After that, we will head north along the Pacific coast. We will spend a couple of nights in Trujillo, and city of some size. After that, we will continue north to Punta Sal, near the Ecuadoran border. Although we are not going with a missions organization, the trip will be a mission in many ways. First, we will use it to further discern our call to do ministry among Latin American peoples. We plan to visit several ministries at work in the country, and listen for the Spirit's direction. Secondly, we plan to share all that God has been doing in our lives in Memphis with our family there. We ask that you pray for the Spirit to go ahead of us and open the hearts of family members and friends we will encounter. Also, please pray that we will be courageous in sharing the life that we have so graciously received through the gospel. He will be with us, I just pray that we will act accordingly.
